Blogpost #16: The people of Sparks *Spoiler Alert*

I finished reading "The City of Ember" this weekend so I decided to start reading the second part to the series, "The people of Sparks".  Lina and Doon got out of Ember and into the world above.  Ember was an underground City made to protect the people many years ago because of something that was happening above ground.  Lina and Doon are friends and together they escaped from Ember to find help because Ember was falling apart and soon all of the lights will shut off forever.

The people of Sparks don't seem very friendly.  They don't want to help Lina and Doon.  But then again, if I was part of the people of Sparks I don't think I would help them either.  The people of Sparks have never seen Lina or Doon before and they believe they are foreigners.  There are not many people left on Earth and not much food to live off of.  I believe that the people of Sparks think that Lina and Doon are trying to take their food and that is why they are not being so friendly.

Doon does not seem too friendly either.  Although he is trying to be nice so that he could get help for Ember it doesn't seem like he is trying hard enough because the people of Sparks think he is unfriendly.  In the book, it says "He thinks he's pretty great, thought Torren, hearing a note of pride in the boy's voice."  Torren, a boy part of the People of Sparks thought that Doon was prideful and his attitude came of like that.  I think that I wouldn't really trust Doon either.  If a boy who seemed mean and prideful that I have never seen before came up to me I would not trust him.

I am enjoying reading this book.  I like reading the City of Ember Series.  I want to read the other two books too!

  1. I think that the city of ember has more nicer people than the city of city of sparks, i think that too, the people of spark must think that their here to take their food.

  2. I think this book sounds really good! I think maybe you should work on more of showing the reader what you think about the story, plot, and characters. You retell a lot about the story in this post. Maybe you can tell us how it relates to the world in another post! I think you definetely explained everything that went on in the book though, but I really think you should expand your posts more! Good job!
