Blogpost #30: Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

This week I started reading "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" this week and so far it is very interesting and I am enjoying this book a lot.  At first the book seemed a little bit confusing, since it switched from the past to the present.  But now that I am about half way into the book I understand it.  It has brought me to start thinking about philosophy while reading it.

The main character, Oskar Schell seems to question everything.  At nights who would lay in bed with his father and ask his father questions.  Questions such as, why do we exist?  What is our purpose here?  He seems interested in philosophy.

I think that this book can connect with philosophy.  That's because it's about life and death.  It's about destiny and fate.  Oskar is very determined to find out what the key is for that he found.  I think that he believes that it was his fate and destiny to find that key that day.

I think that Oskar is a very special little boy.  He is unlike other boys, he thinks about things in a more science and philosophical way.  I think that he changed after his father died.  But I think he changed for the better, he because more mature.  I think that he is mature for his age especially since he is travelling around the five boroughs in search for what his father had wanted him to find.

I am really enjoying this book so far.  Especially since it has a connection with philosophy which is a topic that we are learning in school.  I can't wait to finish the book!
