Blog Post #15: City of Ember: character analysis

I'm reading the book "The City of Ember" and a girl named Lina is the main character.  I believe that even though the book does not specifically talk about her traits, the readers are able to understand her.  By the events in the book and what Lina does the readers are able to learn more about her.

I think that Lina is very independent.  She doesn't really depend on anyone.  Lina is 12 and I think that she is very mature for her age.  She lives with her grandmother and her little sister who is about 3.  Lina's parents died when Lina was young so Lina was left to take care of Poppy, her sister, because her grandmother is old and can't watch her that well.  I think that because Lina's parents died when Lina was young, Lina got more responsibility and that is why she is so mature.

Another trait that Lina has is that I think she is adventurous.  Lina wanted to be a messenger because she wanted to be able to explore the City of Ember and discover places she has never seen.  She loves to run fast and try new things.  I also think that she is brave and courageous.  I think that because Lina is always taking care of her sister and being the 'adult'.  She's not afraid to stand up for self.

Lina is also very friendly.  Lina is nice to everyone and she's very friendly to everyone.  She enjoys being around people, socializing and meeting new people.  I think that's why she wanted to be a messenger for the City of Ember.  She is also very loving.  Lina loves her grandmother, sister, and best friend, Lizzy, very much. She enjoys to be with them and I can tell that she really cares about them.

I think that this book shows a lot about Lina.  I can tell that she is a very strong character and she's unique in her own way.  Lina has a very strong character and personality.  I believe that the book really helps the readers understand Lina.
